The Northwest String Summit was an annual music festival in North Plains, Oregon, that featured bluegrass, roots, and Americana music. I designed the poster for the 2020 festival, but thanks to COVID-19, it did not happen. However, NWSS updated my artwork and used it for the event in 2021 and, again, for the festival's final year in 2022.
With this design, I focused on capturing the essence of the Pacific Northwest in the summertime and alluded to the Haida myth of how the raven brought light to humankind.
I hand-lettered the masthead and drew the intricate lines that decorate the festival icons. The graphics were easily translatable for use on posters, the String Summit website, social channels, and merchandise.
